Nightsleeper: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Keith Watson Daily Telegraph (UK) Nightsleeper is built for binge-watching, its cliffhanger moments the TV equivalent of rubber-necking: you know you should look away but you really can’t. Suspend your disbelief and go along for the ride. Rated: 3/5 Sep 26, 2024 Full Review Nightsleeper: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Camilla Long Times (UK) I found Nightsleeper entertaining solely in a “this is awful” way. Sep 25, 2024 Full Review Nightsleeper: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Ben Dowell Times (UK) And while some of the gags don’t quite land, it allows us to explore the testing of the older men’s friendship, with the humour undercutting any potential for saccharine sentimentality. Rated: 3/5 Sep 25, 2024 Full Review Nightsleeper: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Christopher Stevens Daily Mail (UK) Nightsleeper is 15 carriages of high-speed hokum, impossible to take seriously. But if you surrender to the momentum, it’s an entertaining ride. Rated: 4/5 Sep 25, 2024 Full Review Nightsleeper: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Barbara Ellen Observer (UK) Nightsleeper wants to be the train version of Hijack, but it careers off the track. Rated: 2/5 Sep 23, 2024 Full Review Nightsleeper: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Alison Rowat The Herald (Scotland) Every now and then a too silly by-half twist comes along, or a slab of terrible dialogue, and the action screeches to a halt. Dave C This had all the hallmarks of a suspenseful, thrilling mini series to ease us into Autumn. Alas, it ended up being another absurd, lazily improvised attempt at suspense. There are a number of thrilling moments, but these are hampered by plot assumptions, glossed over 'quick fixes' to so many of the problems faced by Abby and her team, and the incongruous nature of the story where logic is abandoned. A puerile and infuriatingly repetitive power play designed to build tension is just one of the many mechanisms that make this fall woefully short of its lofty ambitions. Its inadequacies sit with its direction, writing, and casting. With plentiful source material, this really should have been so much better. Shame on you, BBC! Rated 1.5/5 Stars • Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/26/24 Full Review Paul W Undeniably exciting but the plot is so full of holes that it leaves you utterly exasperated. Rated 1.5/5 Stars • Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/26/24 Full Review David F Starts well, but very tedious. Padded out with some dull story points. A bit too predictable too, without enough to keep you going for 6 hours. Fundamentally a mediocre script, without which nothing can be truly good or great. The lead actors are excellent, and there is much to like in them, but it would have been better to develop deeper characters and keep the whole thing to feature film length, 2.5hrs max. rather than 6 hours! Rated 1.5/5 Stars • Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/24/24 Full Review Jon C I like the tech/hack side (mostly plausible) some neat red herrings in the plot, and a cool ending. I've seen much worse acting and dialog in Hollywood blockbusters. I also liked how most characters had some redeeming features, as well as flaws. Some trainspotter gel stuff about clocks, as well as zero days, CVEs and DoS attacks galore.... Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/24/24 Full Review Matt N Dreadful dialogue and very poor acting stop it being as much fun as it could have been. So many plot holes...!!
